The Water Collection and Rainfall calculators are designed to calculate the potential and factored water supply of any given enclosure by measuring the interior for the collection of water using length, width, and depth in feet, inches, or meters. The surface area is calculated in square feet, square inches, square yards, and square meters, as well as the potential and estimated actual recovery volume is given in cubic feet, cubic meters, gallons, quarts, and liters.

Water may be collected from any surface, and this app assumes a rectangular enclosure and a constant depth where the water is stored to allow use at a later time for non-drinking water utility, for example, flowers and lawns. Because of direct loss and other factors, such as evaporation, there is a percentage of the actual potential that is very close for collected water volume. In moist cool areas, that may be in the range of 85%, or in the case of dry, hot, desert conditions, it is closer to 60%.
